Spring arrived and brings CHIU' our rose' wine

CHIU' is the song of the Assiolo, a nigth bird who arrives in spring and nest on the pine trees in front of the house.
His coming give us the "bottling time" of the rose' of Civettaio.
30% Alicante and 70% Sangiovese. Fresh, elegant, very good nose - strawberry, lightly salted. Excellent as "aperitivo" , a delicious friend of light summer dishes

Vivit is the stand that for,the first time, Vinitaly dedicates to organic wines.

Il Civettaio at WineTown New York - New York - 31 October - 1 November 2011
Il Civettaio's adventures continue with Wine Town New York. After being in the prestigious Palazzo Pitti for Wine Town Firenze, il Civettaio has been selected to partecipate to Wine Town New York that takes place in New York on October 31 and November 1. Trade and Press will taste our award-winning wines at the Monte dei Paschi di Siena headquarter.

Civettaio Olive Oils In Slowfood Guide of Extra-Virgin Olive Oils 2011              
It's now the turn of our olive oils, Civettaio  and Il Civettaio Olivastra Seggianese,  to be positively reviewed by the experts of the Slowfood Guide to Extra-virgin Olive Oils 2011. Called "light and delicate" .... "with a sweetness that covers entirely the bitterness" they are considered "very harmonious".

Civettaio wines win awards from Decanter and International Wine Challenge
Our wines, Poggio al Commessario and Il Civettaio, won awards from Decanter and from International Wine Challenge. Decanter and IWC are the two most prestigious wine competitions in the world. In particular Poggio al Commessario and Il Civettaio vintage 2006 won Decanter while Vintage 2007 won International Wine Challenge. All the award-winning wines were announced last week at the London Wine Fair.

Il Civettaio at Maremma Wine Shire - Braccagni - May 21-23  2011                              We will be at  Maremma Wine Shire near Grosseto in Braccagni - Centro Fiere del Madonnino - on May 21-22-23 from 10.30 to 18.30. Come to taste our wines:  Hiuls, our riserva, that Slowine 2011 calls  "great purebred  Sangiovese",  and Chiu' our newly bottled Rose' that according to Slowine is "one of the best of Maremma".

Vinitaly - VinoVinoVino2011 - Verona - 7 - 9/4/2011
Come to visit us at our booth at Vini Veri, VinoVinoVino 2011 (7- 9 april)  during Vinitaly. We will present the new vintage 2007 and the Rose' 2010, which have already got very positive
reviews from the major wine guides. VinoVinoVino takes place in Cerea (VR), via Liberta' 57 which can be reached easily by train and by car. 

Best Wines of Tuscany - London - 1/3/2011
We are back from London where Civettaio's wines have been showcased at Best Wines of Tuscany - Selezioni Vini Toscani. At the splendid Hotel Dorchester in Mayfair, on March 1st,  British Trade and Press tasted our wines among other, strictly selected, Tuscan wines. We got lots of positive comments and possibly the opportunity to be permanently present in the UK !

Civettaio - Civitella Paganico - 19/1/2011
Our new, freshly pressed olive oil is ready ! This year the harvest has been abundant and of  the best quality thanks to a not too hot season. In addition to our usual blend of correggiolo, leccino e moraiolo, native cultivar of the Maremma, for the first time we made a monocultivar, always organic,  olive oil  exclusively with Olivastra Seggianese, a typical cultivar from the nearby Monte Amiata. It came out a very approachable, soft olive oil with a magnificent aroma of freshly cut grass. Perfect on fish , salads, grilled and raw vegetables or as a base for sauce like majonnaise or pesto. 

Selezione Vini Toscani - Florence - 26/11/2010
Civettaio wines arrived to the Finals at the Wine Competition Selezione Vini Toscani . As finalists, they were presented with the best Tuscan Wines to international buyers and press at Buywine at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence on November 25 - 26.

Maremma Wine Shire - Milan - 22/11/2010
Il Civettaio, along the best wineries from our area. has been in Milan at Maremma Wine Shire, the expo of the wine excellences of the Maremma (Tuscany). Consumers as well as importers, buyers, journalists and opinion leaders were able to taste the best wines from Maremma.  We are very proud as we received high praises for our wines (and for our new labels !) and for the farmhouse.

Civettaio - Civitella Paganico - 5/10/2010
At Il Civettaio, the grape harvest just started ! Weather has been good so far and few drizzles hasn't stop the operations. We are harvesting the Merlot and the Alicante and just a little bit of Sangiovese.
Everything proceeds as planned and our winemaker Gregorio Dell'Adami, has already put his skills at work to make our rose' , Civettaio Rosa. 
It's a pity that the reader cannot smell the heavenly scents that are coming out of the cellar !!!
